— The Publication —

BehindTheCompendium.

Talmo Compendium is an independent editorial publication based in London. It covers daily habits, sustainable routines, and the coaching perspective on gradual weight management — without prescription, without performance metrics, and without urgency.

01 — Origin

How the Compendium Came to Exist

Talmo Compendium was founded in late 2025 from a shared frustration with the prevailing register of weight management writing: urgent, performance-driven, and organised around outcomes rather than process. The editorial approach here is different. It begins with the observation that sustainable weight management is, in most cases, a question of daily practice rather than periodic intervention — and that daily practice is best served by writing that is patient, precise, and honest about the pace at which change actually occurs.

The publication takes its name from the word's oldest sense: a collection of observations on a related subject, gathered over time, without the presumption of finality. The compendium is always incomplete. Each issue adds to the record. The record is what matters.

02 — Approach

What We Write About and Why

The Compendium covers five related domains: daily movement habits, nutrition awareness, rest and sleep patterns, mindset and coaching perspective, and the practical reality of sustaining change over time. These domains overlap constantly — the sleep article informs the morning walk observation; the nutrition piece shapes the coaching journal entry. That is as it should be.

Articles are selected for their capacity to add to the reader's practical understanding, not for their ability to produce enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is short-lived. Understanding persists.

03 — How We Work
Source Standards

Evidence-Informed Writing

Articles draw on published behavioural and nutritional research. Sources are cited where peer-reviewed literature is available. Coaching observations are distinguished from published findings throughout.

Editorial Review

Two-Editor Review Process

Every article on weight management habits is reviewed by at least one second editor before publication. Corrections are noted publicly. Writers disclose commercial relationships where relevant.

Editorial Independence

No Commercial Partnerships

Talmo Compendium does not accept sponsorship from commercial wellness brands. Articles are not written to promote products. The publication is independent in both funding and editorial direction.

04 — The Editors

Oliver Davies
Founding Editor

Oliver Davies founded Talmo Compendium in 2025 following twelve years of writing about behaviour change, daily routines, and the psychology of gradual improvement. His editorial background spans long-form journalism and wellness coaching, with a consistent focus on the gap between intention and daily practice.

Davies writes primarily on movement habits, mindset, and the coaching perspective on weight management — subjects he approaches through field observation and published behavioural research rather than prescriptive frameworks.

Thomas Walker
Contributing Writer

Thomas Walker is a contributing writer whose work focuses on nutrition awareness and the everyday mechanics of plate composition. He brings a research-oriented approach to subjects that are frequently oversimplified in popular wellness writing.

His articles for Talmo Compendium draw on coaching observation periods and published nutritional research, examined through the lens of practical, gradual change rather than structured restriction.

05 — Scope

What the Compendium Does Not Cover

Talmo Compendium is an editorial publication. It does not offer personal coaching services, individualised advice, or responses to specific reader circumstances. Articles published here are editorial in nature and reflect the writers' observations on daily habits, movement routines, and coaching perspectives on gradual weight management.

The content is not intended as professional guidance. Readers with specific health considerations are encouraged to speak with a qualified wellness professional before making significant changes to their daily habits or routines.

The publication does not engage with: weight loss products of any kind, restrictive eating regimes, performance targets, or before-and-after frameworks. These approaches are antithetical to the editorial perspective of the Compendium, which holds that gradual, consistent, low-pressure change is both the most achievable and the most durable form of weight management.

06 — Common Questions
The Compendium publishes new editorial content on a fortnightly basis. Articles are released when they are ready rather than to a fixed schedule — the publication does not prioritise frequency over quality. Readers can follow updates via the contact page.
The Compendium accepts unsolicited submissions from writers with a demonstrable background in behavioural research, nutrition, or weight management coaching. Submissions are reviewed by the editorial team. Writers whose pieces are accepted are required to disclose any commercial relationships relevant to their subject matter.
